Join us on an Adzenture! We’ve been delighted to partner with the eco-travel company Adzentures for the last two years on fabulous curated group trips to Tela.

And now, we’re introducing an innovative way for you to join us in Tela when it’s most convenient for you, and for exactly as long as you’d like. Perfect for certified divers who want the flexibility to explore this remarkable ecosystem on their timeline, with expert local support and conservation impact. The trip includes all meals and hotels, six scuba dives, and full on-the-ground support. You can customize your trip with addons that include birdwatching, massage, a 2-night stay at our favorite jungle/lagoon getaway.

We’re also planning a group trip to Tela this summer to hopefully 🤞🤞🤞catch the coral spawning. Coral spawn following the summer full moon, and we’ve consulted with our collaborators at the Florida Aquarium who have given us the intel that the July 29 full moon is the most likely one for the elkhorn coral. That matters a lot because this species of coral was just declared functionally extinct in Florida, though they flourish in Tela. Honestly, though, these corals do their own thing. Last time we tried, we came up empty-handed. But, we’re giving it whirl again this year.

The trip is scheduled for July 28-August 2, 2026 and includes diving as well as a trip to the beautiful Jeanette Kawas National Park and a visit to the mangroves, the tallest in the Caribbean. We’ll have time to go on  our signature micro-diving adventures, peering through the microscope at all the incredible little creatures that make the reef hum with life.

If you want to join us, we’ll be putting out nets to try to capture the gametes and monitor during night dives.If we do catch the spawn, next steps are to do a big IVF, hopefully get some larvae, and see if any settle to grow into baby corals.

These are all critical activities for the future of coral, but each one is a biological and technical hurdle. If you join us, we can’t promise the spawning, but it’ll be a lot of fun no matter what happens.
