After being overwhelmed by the beauty of the reefs of Tela, Christian chose the unusual career path of becoming a dive master so that he could share his country’s treasures with other Hondurans. But just as his career was taking off, he suffered a life-changing accident that left him incapable of walking, much less diving.
Meanwhile Tela’s rare resilient reef that had managed to withstand the challenges of warming waters and disease that have decimated other corals was struck by a mass death, whose cause remains unknown.
As these two stories speak to and amplify one another, the film shows how hope can continue to not just exist, but thrive, in a difficult world that needs it now more than ever.
Beautifully shot on location in Tela, Honduras under the direction of Brynne Rardin, with cinematography by Patrick Krum and Joseph Henry, sound recording by Ian Powell, musical score by Chad Cannon, and executive production by Tiff Duong, with support from Hidden Compass’ Pathfinder Prize and Ocean Culture Life.
