The Rebel Reef has another passport stamp to collect: we’re headed to Barcelona!
This October, The Rebel Reef: Seeds of Hope will host it’s Spanish premiere at the 8th annual Love & Hope International Film Festival, where we’ve been nominated for Best Short Documentary!
We’ll be screening on Wednesday, October 14 at 3:00 p.m. at Cinema Maldà, as part of the festival’s David Lynch Frame block.
Our impact producer Daphné De Celles and I will be there in person to represent the film, Tela, Christian, and the remarkable reef that started this whole adventure.
If you’re in Barcelona, come join us!

The Rebel Reef: Seeds of Hope follows Christian Carias, Tela’s only professional divemaster, whose story is deeply intertwined with the survival of Tela’s extraordinary coral reef. The film grew out of a conversation between divers in Tela and a shared realization that the ocean has changed all of our lives.
Since its premiere, the film has traveled much farther than we ever expected. It has screened for audiences across the United States and internationally, picked up awards and recognition along the way, and opened doors for new conversations about Tela’s corals and what their resilience might teach us.
And still, every screening still feels like an opportunity to introduce someone new to the magic of Tela. And now, we’re bringing that energy to Barcelona. There’s something wonderful about watching a story that began in a small Honduran beach town find its way into cinemas on the other side of the Atlantic—and then getting to be there to talk about it.
Daphné and I would love to see some familiar faces, meet new ones, and share a little piece of Tela with Barcelona.
So if you’re anywhere nearby on October 14, come find us at Cinema Maldà. Come watch the film. Come ask us questions. And say hi afterward!
We’ll see you in Barcelona. 🌊
